In last month’s blog we discussed if you were adventurous in your career. In this blog, we continue the career discussion focused on self-discovery. In a recent Gartner® article, Caitlin Duffy, HR practice Research Director, said “The purpose in a job is only one of the things that people are questioning as part of the larger human story we are living. You could call it the ‘Great Reflection.’ …It’s critical to deliver value.” The last three years has certainly elevated personal values and purpose.
Throughout my forty years of coaching experience, I have worked with some of the most competent individuals who, surprisingly, struggle with self-esteem issues. Self-esteem is the subjective emotional evaluation of one's worth, which can significantly impact personal growth and success. I aim to share a simple secret: your worth is just fine. Together, we will explore some of the ways to give yourself a break and focus on developing core skills that align with your goals and aspirations. The Journey to Self-Discovery: The journey to recognizing your true potential begins with self-discovery. Keeping a daily journal is one powerful tool that can aid in this process. You become more aware of yourself and your emotions by jotting down your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It helps you gain insights into your strengths, weaknesses, and areas for growth.
Writing can be therapeutic, allowing you to process your emotions and understand your reactions to various situations. Use your journal as a safe space to express yourself without judgment. As you progress, you will notice patterns and opportunities for self-improvement. Embracing Proactivity: To truly harness the potential of journaling, be proactive in setting goals and charting your progress. Identify the skills you wish to develop and set realistic objectives. Write down actionable steps to help you reach these goals and regularly track your achievements. Incorporate doodling and visual aids into your journal to make it a more creative and engaging process. Visual representations can enhance memory retention and spark fresh ideas. Resources for Personal Growth: Knowledge is power, and abundant resources are available to aid in your personal growth journey. As TBP Coaches, we work with people from a resourceful point of view – collaborating to explore opportunities and identify resources to create an exciting future based on awareness, choice, and action.
We provide articles, videos, and other materials tailored to your career and leadership needs. Dedicate time each day to consume this content and expand your understanding. Whether you are working on communication, leadership, time management, or any other skill, continuous learning is vital for personal development.
Never Give Up on Yourself: One of the most important lessons I have learned through coaching is the significance of perseverance. Life is full of challenges and setbacks, but your ability to bounce back and keep moving forward defines your character. Do not let self-doubt deter you from achieving your goals. When faced with obstacles, take a moment to reflect on your progress and the efforts you have invested. Be kind to yourself and remember that setbacks are natural and part of the learning process. Being a Team Player: In addition to individual growth, learning to be a team player is essential for personal and professional success. Recognize that others have unique strengths and perspectives to offer. Collaborate, support, and encourage your teammates, fostering a positive and productive environment. Conclusion: You are better than you think you are. Your worth is not defined by self-doubt or external validations. Embrace the journey of self-discovery, be proactive in your growth, and never give up on yourself. Remember that continuous learning and open-mindedness are powerful tools for development. As a TBP coach along with my colleagues, we commit to providing you with the necessary tools and resources to excel. Together, we will unleash your full potential and create a path of personal and professional success. You are capable, and the world is waiting for your best version to shine. Let's embark on this transformative journey together. Never give up on yourself.
